Best described as an Estate Lake, the venue will offer fishing for carp (including koi), roach, bream, (specimen) perch, rudd, and maybe tench.

Please adhere to the venue rules as stated below.


We have exclusive use of this water - please respect the flora & fauna around you, in particular the snowdrops and bulbs within season and the memorial trees and shrubs.

Please leave a message on how your session went in the "returns" book kept under the tree in the Angler's Car Park.

Any breach of these rules will be taken very seriously by the committee and may result in expulsion from the club.

  1. Parking in the Fishery Car Park only and NUAC car badge must be displayed.
  2. Members must hold the appropriate Environment Agency Licence(s) before fishing.
  3. Members must carry a valid NUAC permit at all times when fishing and produce it on request.
  4. Fishing from the numbered swims only.
  5. No night fishing. Earliest arrival dawn/latest departure dusk. Please, arrive and leave quietly.
  6. The main lawn up to the hide is out of bounds for fishing. The two wheelchair accessible swims may be used by NUAC members if not in use and if not subsequently required by a resident or member of The Grove Staff.
  7. Maximum 2 rods.
  8. No Keep Nets or Carp Sacks.
  9. No Bivvies or Tents
  10. No Bait Boats.
  11. All fish to be returned to the water.
  12. Use bite alarms at the lowest volume you need.
  13. The water holds Mirror and Koi Carp. Use adequate landing nets and unhooking mats as appropriate.
  14. Groundbait / free offerings in moderation.
  15. The use of a swim rake, within the vicinity of each swim, is permitted.
  16. Absolutely no litter or discarded tackle to be left. Take it home.
  17. Any dinghy that is moored is not for fishing use.
  18. No Dogs.

The fishery is open year round although NUAC reserve the right to close the water for maintenance (the club will inform the membership prior to closure).

Maintenance of trees and bushes is undertaken by NUAC Committee Members and The Grove Ground Staff. Do not cut back growth other than on the ground within or immediately in front of the peg.

Located in the grounds of The Grove, Cheshire Home, Scott's Hill (between Mulbarton and East Carleton), Norwich, about 7 miles SW from the centre of Norwich.

Turn right off the B1113 just through Mulbarton.
Access is also off the A11 signposted Ketteringham.
Follow the Cheshire Home driveway then, just before the "ring-fenced" oak, turn right onto grass track; this leads to Angler's car park (Please no parking at the Cheshire Home itself).
Access to the lake is down the hill, keeping single-storey buildings to the left, tree to the front/right until you pick up the path.
